Shot these photos today finally, I have been wanting to do a style post from a long time – I was in a fix to be honest! Since last two weeks I have been heavily into music again and I am loving it. Music influences my style heavily and that’s why choosing an outfit has been a struggle recently. I’ve been listening to really strong female musicians like Nina Simone, Etta James and amazing male musicians like BB king, James Brown and last week I really got into LP and all of these artists are inspiration behind this post. This post is definitely inspired by androgyny. I have always been into a mix of masculine and feminine style and a very strong reason behind this is music and the kind of cinema I like. I like how these things can leave a mark on your personality and sometimes even make your personality. My style is at least really inspired by characters and music, I really need be in the zone to carry an outfit, otherwise I just cant. Sometimes I end up changing my clothes thrice before going work because it just doesn’t feel right.

It’s kind of fun to experiment like this, I always end up some interesting outfits. For this one, I chose these really cool high waist jeans, these are perfect to wear in summer and they go well with a lot of stuff. I wanted to pair these with something plain and simple to keep the androgyny factor and lastly I paired them with my new favorite flat sole New Balance shoes. I think I got the look I was looking for and I quite like it. It’s easy to assemble and can be worn in different settings.

A week of LP!

I am loving YouTube for introducing amazing music to me. Just a few days back I was listening to random music on YouTube and I was just about to close the window and a random song played from recommended videos and it was so catchy and of course I ended up listening to the song. Little did I know, but I have been listening to this band from 4 days straight now and every time it gives me goosebumps. I also ended up reading a lot about it. So the singer is Laura Pergolizzi, commercially known as LP! It’s crazy not too many people know about her may be because she is essentially a song writer and has written songs about famous artists like Rihanna and Christina Aguilera and for some shows like Orange is the new Black. Her writing is beautiful and so is her voice and she is an incredible whistler among other things.  It’s very unique and I love the fact that her live performance is as good as the real song! Here are a few songs I’ve been listening to. I hope you guys enjoy it!

1) Lost on you – This is probably her most popular song, this is the acoustic version. I personally love this more than the original.

2) Forever and now – She has incredible whistling skills. This song did tear me up a little!

3) Other people – This woman is killing me with her music!

4) Muddy waters – From orange is the new black!

5) When we’re high – This music is amazing!!

6) Dream on  – Cover – This woman is amazing!

Funk, Soul, Blues and some Jazz.

I’m super pumped to write this post because I am sharing music that I usually don’t listen to but been enjoying it more and more lately. I saw Vinyl on and off and got introduced to some amazing music through this show. I got hooked to Soul Makossa, it’s not a song in the show but it was playing as background music [here] in one of the scenes and totally got my attention. It’s super cool and has amazing beats, I found it youtube and then it started suggesting me similar stuff and I found some amazing music then! Some of it I knew and it’s really old and some I found on youtube.

I hope you guys enjoy this music – it’s a mix of funk, soul, blues and jazz. Loving it!

1) Soul Maskossa – Manu Dibango

2) I feel good – James Brown

3) It’s a Mans’ Mans’ World – James Brown
